What hygiene measures are in place for the preparation of meals?
In order to guarantee impeccable hygiene and nutritional safety on board, Corsica Ferries applies the HACCP method, developed by NASA in the 1960s to manage the risks connected to food manipulation in space.
The HACCP method inlcudes numerous controls :
-Upon reception of food supplies
- A Food & Beverage Manager aboard each vessel carries out numerous checks upon reception of food supplies:
- The temperature inside all refrigerated trucks conveying food is taken several times to make sure that all food products travel in impeccable hygiene conditions: - 18 degrees for frozen products and 6 degrees for fresh products.
- The results are rigorously analysed; if the analysis raises the slightest doubt, the relevant products are immediately withdrawn from the food chain.
- During the preparation and storage of all food products
Personal hygiene : All staff coming into contact with fresh produce must scrupulously respect strict hygiene regulations. The shift manager, responsible for hygiene, inspects the entire staff of each shift.
Food storage : All food served on board is prepared by our teams of professional chefs. In order to guarantee the freshness of the ingredients, we follow the reglementation, established by the EU, concerning best-before dates and longevity rules. .
Food testing : Corsica Ferries use an independent laboratory to test water quality and to analyse the food served in our restaurants as well as all food-preparation areas. Audits and sanitary spot-checks are carried out several times a year in order to make sure that the hygiene protocol is respected at each stage of the food chain.
Traceability : all fresh food delivered and cooked on board is subject to strict traceability requirements, in particular the ‘Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée’ system which testifies to the high standard of a product).

Each of our ships has a left-luggage office. If you have booked a cabin you can leave your luggage there. During the crossing you will not have access to the left-luggage office. The company does not assume any responsibility for luggage, even when it is stored with left-luggage.
What is the cleaning procedure for cabins and public areas?
Procedures regarding the use of cleaning products in cabins and public areas are based on the high standards laid out in our Quality Manual ISO 9001-2015 which is certified by an independent body. Each member of our on-board staff is fully trained by a specialized external company in cabin cleaning and inspection procedures.
Spot-checks and audits are regularly organised by crew managers.
